My boyfriend goes snowboarding almost every year with his friends and this year I decided to join!
This is my first time ever snowboarding so I didn't really know what to expect. All the advice I received was that my butt will be sore and bruised and to wear waterproof stuff.

We went to Liberty Mountain Resort, PA which is about a four hour drive from Richmond, VA.
This was my first time in Pennsylvania! We didn't explore the local area since we just planned to snowboard the whole day. Maybe one day we'll go back to explore more.
We arrived around 1-2pm and filled out the waivers and paperwork. After that, we rented the shoes and boards. My bf and I stayed at the beginner slope the entire time since I'm a newbie.

We did sign up for a class but it didn't start until 4:30pm so bf taught me instead. The first time I tried, it was scary but not too bad. I was scared of how fast I was going haha. For some reason, I didn't put together that we were literally on frozen water so of course it will be way more slippery than what I expected. Another problem I was having was trying to avoid people. Every time when I was trying to snowboard away from others, I kept my focus on them and I always end up near them so I purposely fall to avoid body slamming them. I soon realized that I just needed to focus on the clear path and my body will do it's thing and go where I'm supposed to.
After falling a couple of times I got the hang of it. I'm still not good with stopping. The only effective way I know how to stop is to fall on my butt. Did I get a sore butt after the visit? No. But I did get a sore arm. My right arm was really sore and so was my neck area. I think it's because I unintentionally break my falls with my arm. I also fell flat on my back and on my head twice...I didn't wear a helmet but I had some cushioning with my jacket's hood. Word of advice for beginners - wear a helmet. I originally had one but my awkward sized head couldn't fit in the helmet comfortably. I tried the next size up and it was basically swallowing my head...
Snowboarding was fun but tiring. At one point, I didn't want to snowboard anymore since I was basically tired of falling. I still need to figure out how to stop without falling. I know I need to put pressure somewhere...not sure if heel or toe but yeah.
Overall, it was a fun experience and I would definitely want to go again!
