Gradient Fairy Nail Tutorial

Tuesday, June 4, 2013
Hello!
Today I am going to show you guys how to achieve these pretty gradient nails. The key is to be QUICK!

This tutorial was out of the blue. I just wanted to do something simple yet complicated-looking since I haven't done my nails in a long time.

These are the nail polishes I used.

1. Apply base coat if you desire. I didn't have any so I didn't apply it.

2. Take any color nail polish you like and apply it 1/2 to 2/3 of the way down.

3. This part is the tricky part. Apply the glitter nail polish of your choice preferably something that is similar to the colored polish you chose. You have to do this part quickly and from base to tip of the nail so the glitter nail polish and the color nail polish can blend together. Also, you have to apply fast enough to move the bigger glitters to your desired area. I usually try to concentrate on the tip to make it look more gradient. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE COLOR PART TO DRY. You have to estimate about how long you have to wait before it dries completely because each nail polish have a different drying time, consistency, and depends on how thick of a coat you put on.

4. Apply a top coat so bigger glitters won't come off and it helps to smudge the color and glitters together for a more gradient look.

I made a collage of the steps since it was simple in case any of you guys want to save it for reference.

Hope you guys liked this tutorial!
Here is a picture of the very first time I did gradient nails if you guys would like to compare.

  3. What a pretty design. Haha I'll have to try this again then using your methods. The first time I tried to do this, I failed miserably.

    1. it's easier to use glitter polishes because you can't really see the strokes you made and most of the time it's clear so it's pretty much mistake proof ^^
