Day 03: Any look with a bold lipstick

June 30, 2012
Hihi~
So I had nothing to do today so I decided to do one of the looks for the Makeup Challenge. I was already playing with makeup so why not?
Here is the look I came up with. Hope you guys like it! (=^・^=).
If you guys didn't know. I'm actually a cat and sometimes I can't control my cat features from randomly appearing like when I'm taking pictures.
LOLOLOLjk!
This was an accident. I didn't photoshop my eyes like that. I think I moved my pupils in the middle of taking this picture so this is how it turned out. This picture look a bit freaky, but I like it haha.  (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
A close up shot of my floral head piece.
(Please excuse my roots ^_^;)
I felt kinda like a hippie camwhoring with the head piece hehe.
I made it ヾ(@⌒__⌒@)ノ.
I think it turned out pretty nice since this is my first time DIYing something like this.

NAKED & NAKED 2 Palette Review

June 25, 2012
So here's long awaited post about the NAKED Palettes. I bought the NAKED palette about a year ago and I use it almost every day. Then around the beginning of this year the NAKED2 palette came out and I wanted to get it, but since my sister wanted it, too she got it. I already had a NAKED palette and she didn't have any and we said we would share it so everything was fair. (。◕‿◕。) Previously when only I had the NAKED palette I let her use it whenever she wanted so yea.

Here are some photos to compare and contrast these two palettes.

*Taken with flash

*Taken without flash/window lighting
The reason why I did the swatches in circles instead of the usual rectangular form is so you guys can compare these two palettes. These are actually more pigmented that how it is shown on the pictures, but my camera washed-out some of the colors.
Now for the individual reviews and my opinions of these palettes. (☆^ー^☆)
  • 2 matte colors - Naked and Buck
  • 10 satin/shimmery colors
  • came with Urban Decay Eye Primer (not pictured) and eyeshadow brush

  • Virgin | Sin | Naked | Sidecar | Buck |Half Baked

  • Smog | Dark Horse | Toasted | Hustle | Creep | Gunmetal
I bought this palette for $48 not including tax. The colors are neutral colors that you can make lots of looks with. After getting this palette I didn't get anymore eyeshadows for a long period of time because I didn't need any others LOL. I used this palette almost everyday and there is still a lot left after a year!
  • The colors I used the most are Virgin, Buck, and Darkhorse. I like using these to fill in my eyebrows.
  • The colors I used the 2nd most are Sin and Sidecar do add a little color/shimmer to my lids.
  • The colors I used the least areToasted, Creep, and Gunmetal because I'm into the more "natural" look so I used mostly brown colors.
  • All the other colors I have played with and used sparingly.
  • Half Baked and Smog are really pretty colors from the palette and are the colors that I was drawn to when I first found out about this palette, but after buying it I didn't find myself using it as much because on my skin tone it looked a bit too much for everyday looks. It looks really natural in pictures though.
  • Toasted and Hustle are browns with a purple tint.
  • Darkhorse is a brown with a hint of olive.
  • Naked is great for a wash on your lids. This color is almost like my skin color.
I think this palette is worth $48 because it lasts for so long. It's really pigmented and easy the do "smokey-looks" because the colors you need are all beside each other. This palette contains mostly "golden colors" in my opinion.

  • 3 matte colors - Foxy, Tease, and Blackout
  • 9 satin/shimmery colors
  • came with a a double sided eyeshadow blush and lip gloss (not pictured)

  • Foxy | Half Baked | Booty Call | Chopper | Tease | Snakebite

  • Suspect | Pistol | Verve | YDK | Busted | Blackout
I don't use this NAKED2 palette as much as my NAKED palette because this is my sister's. However, I think I've used it enough to tell my opinions about it. My sister got it for $50. Again, this is a great neutral palette that you can created a lot of looks with. I would describe this palette as "Pearly" because most of these colors are a pearly color.
  • The colors I mostly used are Foxy and Bootycall. I use them to highlight my eyes and brow bone.
  • The colors I used the lease are Tease and Busted.
  • All the others I used sometimes.
  • Chopper has a orange tint to it. The color is like a new penny color.
  • Snakebite is a bronze color.
  • The Half Baked in this NAKED2 palette is lighter than the NAKED palette one.
  • I really like the color Pistol, Verve, and YDK. I used those colors for the most recent wedding I went to.
  • Pistol is a grey olive color.
  • YDK and Busted have a tint of purple in them.
  • Blackout is a really nice "matte" black. Even though I consider it a matte color, there are a few shimmers in it, but not enough to make it look shimmery.
I think this palette is really pretty. If I had to choose which palette to get and it was my first time seeing them, I would have chosen the NAKED2 because the colors look so gorgeous. I'm more drawn to pearly colors than golden ones. Also, I like the packaging of the NAKED2 more. However, after using these two palettes, I feel like the NAKED palette suits me best because there are colors on there that I can use to fill in my brows and line my eyes. Both are GORGEOUS palettes that are worth the money.

I hope this review helped those that are trying to figure out which palette to get. If you have questions about these then feel free to leave a comment and I'll reply to them as soon as possible. (⌒_⌒;)

Day 02: Edgy Look

June 21, 2012
I haven't done one of the things on the Make-Up Challenge in a long time aha...ヽ( ´¬`)ノ

Well, I had time today, but the lighting was bad because it started to get cloudy in the middle of me taking pictures of the tutorial. I also gave up because the picture kept turning out blurry. I just took pictures of the look. I might edit this post and add the tutorial on here another day, but I'm not promising anything. It's a really simple look anyway so a picture tutorial is probably not needed~

Here's the "Edgy Look" I came up with. This look was mostly inspired by TVB actresses. This certain look was inspired by Florence Kwok in the drama No Good Either Way - 衝呀!瘦薪兵

I fail at winking haha.

Products used
  • Burt's Bees Lip Balm
  • Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion
  • NAKED palette - Creep&Gunmetal (for eyelids) Buck&Dark horse (for eyebrows)
  • Maybelline Eyestudio - Espresso
  • Revlon Lip Butter - Creme Brulee
  • NYC bronzer - Sunny
I didn't put on mascara because I couldn't find my eyelash curler (⌒_⌒;)

ankle straps

Trend that I'm loving: Ankle straps

June 19, 2012
It's probably not a "new" trend per se, but for the past couple of months this trend has caught my eye and I love it! I feel like the ankle strap adds an extra feminine and classy look. Also, it's great for those people that slips out of their heels or flats easily like me (^^;) .

Here are a few examples and inspiration of how to wear them. These picture don't belong to me.

I would show how I would style them, but I don't really have shoes with ankle straps on them yet. I only have one pair and they are flats. I've been trying to save money and find the "perfect" pair of ankle strapped heels. My mom has a couple of pairs so maybe in a later post I'll post how I would wear them, but it's going to look a little funny on me since her shoes are not my size (^^;) . I'll make it work. Maybe I'll stuff it with toilet paper or something (≧∇≦).

Here are a couple of shoes that I found online with ankle straps I like so I'm going to share it with you guys~.
I absolutely LOVE this pair. I can basically wear it with any outfit since it's a neutral pink, and it just adds the right amount of color in a plain outfit. It won't be too overwhelming like red. Plus, it's flats! So it will be comfy to wear. The pointed toe part of the shoes also help elongate your legs, too.
**Basically any shoes that is pointed will give this allusion (☆^ー^☆).

I actually have this pair but in reverse color. The one I have is cream colored with black polka dots.

These 3 pumps/mary janes are like the classics. If I had enough money I would get one of each color LOL. These are the three I really like. I would buy them in the same order it appears, too. When I first saw these they were actually patent leather heels, but I can't find the pictures of them anymore on the site.
**Little tip: If you think you would trip and fall when wearing heels, I would try suede heels rather than patent ones. If you get a scratch it'll be less noticeable and easier to hide.

I like this, but I don't think I would wear it. I feel like my feet are too wide to wear them, and I don't really like peep-toed shoes that much especially if the peep toe part is this wide. I mostly just included this in here to shoe more variety of ankle strapped shoes, but I think these shoes look pretty elegant. If they were patent leather it would make it look more elegant~

This pair is so edgy. I love it haha! I really like the studs and spikes in the back. It's also a wedge so it'll be pretty comfy to walk around in. There is also a platform which gives you extra height and the peep-toe is just the right size which will elongate the legs and the dainty ankle strap adds an feminine touch to these edgy wedges. I would love to get this pair if I have extra money, but I already have a pair of lace-up wedges that are black that I really like so I probably won't. If this pair goes on sale then maaaaaybe I'll get it. Just maybe.

Update: OOTD + Haul

June 06, 2012
On Monday, I went out with my sister and cousin. We went to Ulta, Five Below, and H&M after lunch.

I think we were at Ulta for a while...We were browsing around for things we want. I also wanted to get a concealer, but I have no idea how to choose what color will suit me and the people working weren't even around for me to ask for help so whatever. I picked up some stuff I've bee wanting, and it was awesome that those stuff were buy 1 get 2nd for 50% off.

Here are the swatches.
I had the Strawberry Shortcake one before, but I lost it along with my Peach Parfait. I was so sad about losing the Strawberry Shortcake one because that's like my every-day one. I didn't like the Peach Parfait because it was too shimmery for my liking. I like matte ones.
I don't know why I picked up the Raspberry one, but I just liked the color. It's not an every-day type of thing for me, but I want to try out more colors. These pictures don't do justice to these because it washes out the color.

This is the best picture of the swatches. It's pretty true to color here. I love it when the right amount of light enters my room when I take pictures.
I really like the two colors I picked out - Iced Latte and Golden Sage  :).
I can't wait to do a tutorial or something with the make-up I got.
These Loreal Infalliable eye shadows are different than the Maybelline Color Tattoo ones. I think I'll do a comparison post of these two brands of eye shadow later on after I get this other color I want from the Maybelline Color Tattoo. I originally was going to get it at Ulta, but didn't get it because the original price is cheaper at Walmart.

At first I thought I got kinda ripped off because the original price of these makeup were like $2 higher than how much I could have gotten them from Walmart, but I did my math and I actually saved $4 total - $1 for each product. That made me happy haha.

These are the random stuff I got at Five Below LOL. We were there for a really long time, too because there were all these things we want to get, but we limited ourselves from spending too much because we were still planning on going to the mall since it was right there.
I found a laptop case that's big enough for my laptop! It was only $5, too~ I got a black one so I can DIY it. I also bought another ipod cover because I'm starting to get tired of my red with white polka dots one. I had trouble deciding these two white cases to get because both were made with different materials. I decided to get the smooth but kinda shimmery one because it probably won't get dirty as easily, but I felt like the other white case feel nicer and would be better to use for DIY, but it would get dirty really easily. Well, I can always go back next time to get it if I really want to get it. Otherwise, I'll be sticking to this case for a while, and yes, I plan on DIYing the case I got, too. I bought these stickers because I thought they were really cute and would be fun to use for DIY projects I'm planning. (^ω^)
I got the umbrella because I've been meaning to get one since all the umbrella I have are broken. It's plain and simple, and I really like the wooden holder for it.

I've been wanting to get a swim suit for this summer because I feel like I'll be going to the pool/beach more than once this year and I didn't want to wear the same blue one I have.
I got this one at H&M! It caught my eyes when I first went to the swim suit section. I had trouble finding the right size for me but after trying a bunch of sizes on, I found the ones that fit. I got a size 8 for the top and a 4 for the bottom. Their sizes are so weird LOL. I don't think my boobs are that big, but when I tried on smaller sizes it wouldn't cover everything. The  bottoms are kinda weird because they're not like normal bikini bottoms (LOL I just thought of Spongbob). They're weird because it doesn't really cover my whole butt, but my sister said that it looks okay on me so I got it. It was rather this bottom or a black bottom. I didn't really want to mix & match because I have enough bathing suits that are like that so yea.

OOTD

Current Nails

This color is called "Central Park" in 216 :).
It's a light pink/salmon color. I painted them like last Friday.

Oh and on our way out of the mall we saw a rainbow (☆^O^☆).
